Me again!

Sorry to post again so soon...but I've been doing a sort of year in review on my other blog and I came across this "color quiz" that I thought may be of interest to some of you. So...I re-took it, being in a completely different mindset than I was the last time it managed to tell me exactly what was wrong with me, and I think it did it again. Though in a bit more subtle of a way this time. Anyway....the thing is good. All from picking out some colored squares. Weird.

Sari's Existing Situation
Readily participates in things affording excitement or stimulation. Wants to feel exhilarated.

Sari's Stress Sources
The existing situation is disagreeable. Feels lonely and uncertain as she has an unsatisfied need to ally herself with others whose standards are as high as her own, and wants to stand out from the rank and file. This sense of isolation magnifies the need into a compelling urge, all the more upsetting to her self-sufficiency because of the restraint she normally imposes on herself. Since she wants to demonstrate the unique quality of her own character, she tries to suppress this need for others and affects an attitude of unconcerned self-reliance to conceal her fear of inadequacy, treating those who criticize her behavior with contempt. However, beneath this assumption of indifference she really longs for the approval and esteem of others.

Sari's Restrained Characteristics
Circumstances are such that she feels forced to compromise for the time being if she is to avoid being cut off from affection or from full participation.

Sari's Desired Objective
Wants to make a favorable impression and be recognized. Needs to feel appreciated and admired. Sensitive and easily hurt if no notice is taken of her or if she is not given adequate acknowledgment.

Sari's Actual Problem
Needs to be valued and respected as an exceptional individual, in order to increase her self-esteem and her feeling of personal worth. Resists mediocrity and sets herself high standards.

Sari's Actual Problem #2
Disappointment and the fear that there is no point in formulating fresh goals have led to anxiety. Desires recognition and position, but is worried about her prospects. Reacts to this by protecting at any criticism and resisting any attempt to influence her. Tries to assert herself by meticulous control of detail in an effort to strengthen her position.

Take the ColorQuiz yourself right now!

Cross posting!

In case any of you are interested in the date I went on last night (in no small part thanks to our Steph) I wrote about it in my LJ so I feel that instead of re-writing what I believe to be a rather articulate post I would just refer you to the entry via a link here. I hope that's ok. It was a good date....as I didn't know whether it was officially a date or not and the guy it was with was the one that applied that title to it. So....yep yep. I had a good night. See the link.

Jo...question

Jo I need your help on the Korean beverage front. The liquid is clear, the bottle has a giant 2% on it, it's usually with the sports drinks, and it tastes exactly like peach gumi rings....what's it called?

My turn to write a post stoned

To replace the classic drunken email (remember those, Jo?), I am now writing a drunk/stoned blog post. Actually, I had better write quickly, in that I have not consumed truly vast quantities of any mood-altering drugs. Even further, I confess that the main purpose of this post is not to leave a drunk message, but to inform you all of a sharp evolutionary advance by the Arab-Y strain (that's Arab-Y, people, not to be confused with Arab-B...harharhar...). God, I'm already starting to sober up and realize how not funny all of this is. Okay, the point of this post is, I got to my current state by the aid of Sterling and Fred(die). And...I had an AWESOME night hanging out with those two. A good solid 35 minutes of it was just myself and Sterling, too. It was great. We just talked about how our lives were going, and we have this really cool relaxed brother/sister relationship going. And, although not as strong a sign for Fred's and his (new lady friend???)'s potential of an enjoyable evening as they were for my personal growth were the games of "fisticuffs" and "cat-harass" Sterling and I played all night, the activities of Sterling and myself made for a good night for us. I guess, the overall thing here is, I feel confident now in giving myself a stamp of good psychiatric health when it comes to my romantic inclinations, at least currently. Hooray!

easily amused

ok so i know in the grand scheme of things it isn't much, but today is my first pay day, and yes I laughed when I opened up my earning statement. Why? Because I got paid 1.8 million won, sure that's only like $1800, but still real value or not I couldn't help but laugh and think that I am sooo not worth that much.

Bito's phone!!

Hi all...Arabito wanted me to post a pic of the brand new cell phone she is getting that I am going to steal while she is sleeping sometime cause I want it so much. (Note: this would have been easier LAST year when she was sleeping much more within my range). I knew there was a reason you waited until now to get a phone!!! Anyway...it's not the most badass of them all....but it's pretty damn cool.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I, Sarah Lynn Eichhorst, on behalf of Araby Belcher, present to you.....The MOTOROLA V276!!!!!!

In all of it's majesty. I want it to come so I can try it out and see how badass it really is.

Does anyone here Friendster?

I jumped on the friendster bandwagon. Anyone care to be my friend? Use my hotmail address!

about myspace account

Sari,

You hava a myspace account? Can I add you in my friends list? Currently, in my account, I don't have any friends. I need to beef that up. If anyone else have a myspace account, let me know. My homepage is www.myspace.com/fib_81 . It looks lame right now because I really did not have time to modify it. Can anyone tell me how to add a background image to myspace webpage?

Thanks,
Tom

There will be seriousness at the end of my fun

So...as is my MO lately I've been wasting time on the internet for a good hour and a half straight now (I took a break to read stats and Harry Potter) and this led me to clicking on the things that were hyperlinked in my MySpace account that I very rarely look at. I had this part where I list my "heroes" or whatever and I discovered that if I put the cursor over them they were clickable. I thought maybe this would be a facebook-esque feature where I could see if anyone else listed the same heroes as me...so I click on Brian Hagen. And what do I get........a search engine search for Brian Hagen products. http://searchresults.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=advancedFind.results&websearch=1&spotId=4&SearchType=MySpace&SearchRequest=Brian%20Hagen I don't know if that works if you don't have myspace...so I think I will copy and paste my favorites....

Hagen at Shopping.comFind, compare and buy pets and other home and garden products. Read product reviews and compare prices with tax and shipping from thousands of online stores. www.shopping.com (pets and home and garden eh?? tax and shipping!! Holy hell...I can get him shipped!!!)

Save on Hagen Aquarium SuppliesVisit DrsFosterSmith.com for value-priced Hagen Aquarium Supplies. Excellent quality & selection from a trusted name in aquarium products. 100% satisfaction guaranteed. www.drsfostersmith.com

Hagen Items on eBay Find Hagen items at low prices. Shop for all kinds of products on eBay - The World's Online Marketplace. www.ebay.com (that's right Bri...you know all that stuff you left with me. Apparently your things bring in a pretty penny and I was broke cause the whoring isn't going so well and I needed to buy Yuki...)

Alright.....now for the seriousness after my fun....

For those of you in Madison....I have an invitation for you to attend my "Hooray Sari has been single for a year/we hate you Steve Ludwig party on the eve of October 1. It will begin with going to see Howl's Moving Castle at the MU....that's all I know for sure right now. Cause see....if this were a year ago (well...a year and a few months ago when Steve didn't suck as much) he would have been going with me.....but I say....TO HELL WITH THAT!!! I have my anime friends now and we know WAY more than Steve!!!!!!!!! Plus this is a milestone in my life as since I was a senior in high school I'd never made it 6 months without some kinda relationship (f-ed up or not!)...let alone a year!!! I owe a lot to Brian Hagen, the Sohmas, Kare Kano/Soichiro Arima, the boys of Bad Luck and Nittle Grasper, Brian Lanier, FLCL, Arabito, Steph, and Lelah.

Ok...so I think I'll send formal invites or something if I miraculously get motivated to do something PRODUCTIVE while wasting time on the internet.....right....that happens.

Love you all!!

I'm contaminating the public with my nerdish filth

Ok, so basically I've wanted to murder, or at the very least lock in a closet entirely too many middle schoolers since wednesday. I've been hit with a broom while breaking up a fight, hugged, had my ass grabbed, called "an ugly penis" (not sure where that came from), had a student leap onto to me and kiss me. So....for therapy purposes I'm going to talk about the happiest thing in my life....the fan sub of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.

I think Penny-Arcade might have said it best with this warning:

Fanboy Warning

This film contains scenes that may be totally fucking awesome. Your favorite characters may be rendered in extreme detail as they take part in mind-blowing battles set in familiar locales. Futuristic scabbard/motorcycles might be depicted in a way that makes them appear sweet.

This is sooo very very very true. It is the prettiest damn CG I have ever seen. Cloud looks pretty enough to drag out of my computer and either make out with or have him lay my enemies to waste...not sure which would be better. Other favorites return. I think Red XIII in the first scene is awesome (which by the way is the final scene from the FFVII ending). Reno is another person who's CG hotness far outweigh that of his polygonal predecessor. A down grade in the appearance department is Tifa, but that's just because I can no longer be appalled/laugh histerically at her impossible proportions.

The story is also pretty good, but you'll enjoy this 80 times more is you've played the game. Ok I'll shut up now. I'd just like to say in closing that I'm jealous of all you people who get to dress up for halloween, and why of all years is this year the anime year! :pouts:

Checking in

Thought I's day hi to everyone quickly. Quickly is the main word cause I feel like my head a-splode (reference Strong Bad e-mail "video games" on that one). Also....I was in the need of pants and the dreaded GAP was having a jeans sale so I went in and I actually found a pair that fits after trying on like 15 pairs of pants and then as I go to check out....who should walk up to the register but dear wonderful Shingo. Yeah. We had a nice polite conversation about pretty much nothing complete with me dropping everything I put in my hands cause I'm completely incapacitated when it comes to me having a headache and in which he PROMISED to call me to hang out. Right...I'll believe THAT when I believe any other thing he told me in every conversation we ever had........

I'ma pack my shit for Milwaukee and sleep in my bed until its over.

~Sari

both sides of creationism

ok, so since creationism and science and their connection or lack there of seems to be topic here......for those interested, Check this out.....

Terry Gross, who i worship as my own personal interview goddess, addressed that same very issue today on her show Fresh Air on NPR. She talks to Chris Mooney, who just published a book entitled "The Republican War on Science".....then she interviews Republican Lobbyist Robert Walker on Bush and Science.

You can listen to both of the interviews here. And you should.

Good God I love that woman.

Who are you guys?

Ok, THE SAUCE is lost. I think we need an introduction. I know almost everybody here, but there are few I have questions about. Who is NAIVEMETAPHYSICS? Which Sarah is the one I had class with (Steph's Sarah)? These questions must be answered!!!!

Things that make creationists look stupid.

For all of you evil science nerds, look very closely at this picture.

What has five antennal segments or less?
A large scutellum covering the front wings?
Piercing-sucking mouth parts?
Three or fewer tarsal segments?

If you answered beetles, you're a creationist.
If you answered Scutelleridae, which isn't a beetle nor even closely related to a beetle, then you are not creationist, but you are correct.

birthday posting more work then i thought

well, after about 2.5 hours of training myself on how to manipulate HTML this morning, i've gotten this far in posting our b-days(as you can see in the sidebar).

for people who don't have a b-day on the sidebar, its b/c i need your date ;). just e-mail it to me and i'll put it right now there.

man, that was way more frustrating then i thought it would be though......i kept getting these stupid "no data" messages everytime i tried to republish my changes to make it work...and every time i got THAT i freaked b/c i thought i'd deleted all the info on our blog or something....jesus. (it turns out that was NOT what was happening, there was just an error that i had to figure out and fix.....but that message scared the crap out of me multiple times)

i'm going to keep working on it too....i want there to be 2 columns for our b-days...one with the names, as they are displaying right now, the second column with just our b-days across from our names. But, that second part is proving to be more compliacated then i initally thought.

for now, i have to get ready to go to class, so i prob won't get back to working on that section of the blog till later this week.

oi.

at least i didn't delete the blog.

hehe, i think it's better this way

Okay, so this comment is mainly for those who knew me when this shite was hitting the fan and so it'll really only make sense to them... do u remember that guy, b. p.? i'm just gonna use his initals, though i doubt he'll ever be able to read this~ i'm just paranoid like that... anyway, remember him? the one who strung me along for all the world to see, and then when he decided he wanted to commit, i was over him, and he told me it was my fault for not communicating with him and all that CRAP...

well, i get an email from him like a month ago, him telling me that he's gonna be in korea the next month and he wants me to show his ASS around...

i really wanted to just not reply, but knowing me, the nice girl, i just couldn't help myself and just told him my number and told him to look me up~

well hAHAHAHA, it turns out the week he's here, i'm on vacation!!!! HAHAHAHHAHA~ funny the way things turn out~

i mean, it's been like 2 years since i've thought of him, and it kind of surprises me that i have no pleasant memories of him, and that even after all this time, he bothers me~

wouldn't it be normal if i really didn't care about the past, and was just able to meet up with him, clean slate and all, and just talk and show him around and then end it on a good note? it would be normal to want that, right? but i don't! i don't really wish to see him... and i never said I was normal~

hum.

how's THIS for the sake of presidential incompetence?

Check out the graphic below:

The areas in RED are the ones Bush declared a state of emergency for prior to Hurricane Katrina. Notice the coastal areas most at risk are NOT colored red.

Hey everyone, so just thought i'd let you know how things went~ well, they went really well... the opening ceremony at the hotel was awesome. i pretty much got treated like a celebrity, just cuz anyone who's mother tongue is english is treated that way here... but the baseball players thought i was some kind of celeb announcer and were asking my friend if they could get a pic... haha, that was pretty funny... the closing ceremony was a bit crazier... the final game was korea vs. japan.. and korea was winning 4-2 at the top of the ninth, but then the pitcher let 2 homers go, and we lost 5-4 in the 10th... so needless to say, everyone was crushed, and the spectators all wanted to go home... i mean, i wouldn't have wanted to stay for the awards ceremony either... so anyway, it was pure craziness since all of the awards were decided on last minute, so i had to get the script ready in like a total of 3 minutes... anyway, but it was good, definitely an awesome experience and something to put on the good ol' resume~

so thanks for the support, u guys helped a LOT!

Whatserface, you can go to the thrift store . . .

This weekend, I went out to L.A. to do some vintage-clothes shopping (by myself on Saturday and with my roommate on Sunday). And, I gotta tell ya, I found some pretty cool stuff. Saturday I visited 3 vintage stores, the best of which were Ozzie Dots and Jet Rag. There's not much interesting to say about Jet Rag, except that they've got a TON of stuff and the prices are mostly reasonable (approx $12 a shirt and $16 a dress) and that I got some cute stuff there. Ozzie Dots, on the other hand, had some really interesting stuff (i guess the owner gets a lot of old movie and theatre costumes when they're done being used) but I didn't buy very much--just what i could scrounge up from the $1 rack. I do however, plan to make another visit there sometime before I leave.

Sunday was really cool bcz I went to a flea market (or swap-meet as they're called here) in Pasadena. It was really really cool; there was tons of vintage stuff and clothes, and I got some AMAZING New-Kids-On-The-Block buttons, as well as a pretty cool I LIKE IKE button which I bought with Sari in mind (and, if you don't already have one, I'd like to make a gift of it to you ^^). We stopped at a couple clothes places, and I got a cute polyester green button down and a couple cute sweaters, one of which would probably look amazing on Araby (alas, it's a little too small for me) but the crowning achievement of the day was this unbelievably cool mod 60's go-go dress, which I've painstakingly recreated for you in this MS-Paint drawing:

Of course, the drawing is cooler than the real thing (ha!) but oh my god i don't think i've ever made a purchase this cool before. Granted my "cutest coat ever" and my "cutest jacket ever" were almost on similar footing, but both of those cost me over $30, whereas this dress only cost me $15. $15!!! I'd bet you this would go for at least $40 on eBay. Soooo cool! And it even fits me--tho barely (it's so tight i can't even wear a bra; luckily it's so tight i don't need a bra). Anyways, all I need is a good reason to wear it . . .

did I mention to some of you I don't get reimbursed for sick time when i leave? Perhaps I should come down with the flu sometime in late October . . .

Bulgogi!

I made bulgogi today. :) Although, I am a bit worried. Either the meat was too old, or I put too much vinegar in. I guess I'll find out in the next couple hours...

Info...

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know that the rapidly more infamous "Nerd Blog" is getting a re-vamping. I didn't like the design before. It's now becoming nerdier than ever...complete with new and awesome links.

I'm still offering a cash prize and friend points for anyone who can tell me the theme of the blog title and webaddress as well as random other things I put on there such as my signoffs. (Note: Brian Hagen is, once AGAIN, the exception to this rule...but you're my favorite exception!)

yep, so. kumagorosays.blogspot.com

See you there, prepare to be nerded.

Oh it's good to be back

Oh sweet Jesus H Christ in a chicken basket is it nice to have internet flowing through m laptop in my own home once again. I was a bit leery when I was told it was going to be DSL based, but shit I can't complain when I episode 45 of Bleach streaming in at 143 kb/s. Also now that I'm back anyone and everyone should leaving harassing and threatening things for me on AIM...that's asteroidblues37 for those of you who don't know. Seriously though I need some english straight out of the native mouth even if it is text based. Ok well I'm off to make my triumphant return to Guild Wars as my somewhat ambiguous Elementalist/Necromancer. Oh it feels good to be back in hardcore nerd mode.
